I think it may be a problem with the game itself, since it's so old, and other people have had audio problems with it (although they were slightly different problems and it seems they were able to get them fixed) : sound works perfectly fine outside the game in Windows & also in every other game I've tried. : I do see the hdmi device under Playback Devices, it's called 1 - STD HDMI TV, and it's always my default device. Went through all his steps (wasn't the first time I've tried it either but I tried again just to be sure) and still no audio in FFVII. Can you list where it failed?Дo you see the HDMI -device under Audio Output devices at all?Дoes the sound go through that outside the game?

(if your on windows 7 then i guess just chose something else) if that doesn't work go to this worked on a previous version of windows and click windows 7.

You could also try left clicking on the game launcher itself and hit troubleshoot compatibility. exit and then set sound to your tv and run again. basicly each time you have to first run the game with something else set to default device. This is some weird bug but it works for me when i play guitar hero 3. You' have to do this each time so for example if you get it to work and then exit the game and simply start it again it wont work. The once again exit through game settingsД¦)go to playback and set default device back to your tvД§)start game it should work for sure this time. the sound should at this point still not be coming from your TV. FIX: it seems Mr TehNoms was having a different issue i guess? But for anyone else with an issue something similar to this were sound wont come through HDMI on only some games do the following.ДЎ)left click sound icon on task bar and click playback devices.Дў)you should see your tv name thru HDMI ordinarily what you want to do is left click an hit set as default device.ДЈ) Start game and see if it works if it doesn't exit the game (Important exit through game options don't alt click out and close window)Д¤)go to playback devices and set another device to default device.(Not the TV)ДҐ) Start and load up the game.
